SOCIAL MEDIA CRAZE IS NOT DYING IN FORESEEABLE FUTURE

What’s the hype?

Believe it or not, it has been more than 10 years after Facebook (the leading platform) was created by Mark Zuckerberg back in 2004; yet the excitement around social media is even getting stronger to date. And since 2004, there has been a raise in the number of social media platforms. “What is this hype all about?” one can wonder. Well, it can be the mere fact that ‘No man is an island’ and we are constantly seeking to make new connections. Furthermore, there is no denying that social media has brought new experiences and exposures which are both negative and positive. Ultimately, social media has and continues to impact today’s lifestyle.

Upraise of Vloggers and Bloggers

Among the many impacts of social media in today’s lifestyle, blogging or ‘vlogging’ is definitely noticeable and is more popular with the young generation. YouTube, which is among the major platforms, is responsible in promoting video contents (vlogs) by rewarding the creators handsomely and not charging a fee to their subscribers. This has changed the perception of social media being a platform only to connect with the world but also to earn-a-living while in enjoyment. Consequently, in the recent years, the number of vloggers and bloggers has risen sharply and more among the youth who are driven to make a living in doing it. And indeed, there are numerous accounts of people succeeding and living a life of their dreams. One such account is ‘The ACE Family’ who started out by doing vlogs on YouTube in January 2016 and today their channel has more than 9 million subscribers which translate to a handsome reward for views per vlog.

Will Social Media Craze Ever Die?

Social media continues to create more opportunities for people seeking to generate income. And as long as this remains true, the craze of social media will not die at least in the foreseeable future.

LATTE DADS: REDEFINING FATHERHOOD

The perception of fatherhood in parenting is slowly evolving from being peripheral to being central. Young men are progressively embracing parenting and actively participate in raising their children. This is evident in Sweden where the government decided to implement the parental leave plan which campaigns for fathers with jobs to get as equal opportunity as mothers to raise their children. The parental leave plan generously give 480 paid days to the working parents to be away from work and go spend time with their children. These leave days are to be shared equally between the father and mother. From the time when this leave plan was implemented, streets in towns across Sweden have been crowded with youngish bearded men carrying their babies in strollers or hanging out with toddlers at the public parks. This has become a common sight as confessed by a Swedish man who was quoted saying, “In Stockholm, it’s common to see four dads with expensive strollers hanging out in the...

10 WAYS TO IMPROVE PERSONAL FINANCIAL DISCIPLINE

1.       Never borrow money that accrues interest to start a business. To be precise, never borrow money to start a business expecting that the business will generate income to pay back the borrowed money plus the interest. 2.       Never spend money you haven't received. Don't even promise someone money based on a promise you have from someone else. If someone tells you: "Joe, come to my office tomorrow at 10am and pick 30K"-don't go out to buy items on credit based on this promise, with the hope that you will pay off your creditor when the promised money comes. It may not come as promised and this will leave you in problems with your creditors. 3.        If you want to save, whenever you receive money, don’t start spending hoping that you’ll save what remains. Normally what remains is zero because as long as money to spend is available, the numerous things you can spend it on are also available. And thi...
